Candice Smith, M.S., LPC, NCC, CST (TX89612)
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with extensive clinical experience and a strong foundation in trauma-informed care. I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas A&M University and bring over 20 years of experience as a Behavioral Health Technician in the military. This background gives me a deep understanding of service members, veterans, and military families, and it continues to shape my grounded, practical approach to therapy.
I am a National Certified Counselor, an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, and an EMDR-trained clinician. My clinical focus includes complex trauma, PTSD, sexual trauma, and the unique relational and identity concerns that often accompany these experiences. I work extensively with veterans and military families, as well as individuals and couples navigating concerns related to sexuality, LGBTQIA+ identities, open and consensually non-monogamous relationships, infidelity, anxiety, depression, and relational distress.
As an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, I provide specialized, evidence-based sex therapy that addresses desire discrepancies, sexual functioning concerns, intimacy challenges, shame, and communication barriers. I approach sexuality as an integral part of overall well-being and strive to create a space where clients can explore it safely, openly, and without judgment.
My therapeutic style is collaborative, direct, and personalized. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), mindfulness-based strategies, and sex therapy interventions tailored to each client’s needs. Whether we are working through trauma, strengthening a relationship, or rebuilding sexual confidence, my goal is to help you reconnect with your sense of agency, self-worth, and authenticity.
I am committed to providing affirming, comprehensive care that empowers individuals and couples to heal, grow, and build meaningful, fulfilling relationships—with themselves and with others.
